HIGHLIGHT: Black Arts Fest 2017
Where : Bonita Lakes (weather permitting)
When: We are starting to prepare for the first ever Black Arts Festival in Meridian, MS. It is scheduled (weather permitting) for the third weekend in February 2017. On Friday, we wish to have a kickoff celebration consisting off mass barbecuing, music, performances, and a special keynote speaker. On Saturday, we will have many booths set up from people of the African Diaspora who wish to share their skills, knowledge, art, culture, food, organizations, trades, and businesses. On Sunday, we want to end with a day of relaxation by the lake, a shared stage sermon from a few local preachers, and a pride walk around the lake. What we need from you: We need people who wish to share to set up their booths, we need preachers who are interested in giving the sermon/working in conjunction with other preachers who want to give the sermon, we need performers, and we need ALOT of food supplies for the event (so cooks and monetary donations for the purchase of supplies), and we need the entire diaspora of Meridian MS and surrounding areas to come out and celebrate their strength, spirit, culture, and all-around lovliness. |
